ANKOLE CATTLE
Also known as Watusi Cattle. My Ankole Images are part a limited Edition series.
Having always had an urge to photograph these majestic creatures I finally took the time to visit Family in Kenya and was fortunate to have the opportunity of photographing this particular herd in a Wildlife Conservancy, where the herd co-exist amongst an abundance of wild animals. These long-horned cattle are indigenous to Uganda. African tribes select these cows for the quality of their horns and ability to fend off predators. The horns on an Ankole also act as a cooling system for the cattle, which makes the Ankole extremely resilient to harsh weather conditions. The tribes of Africa that rely on them for survival, regard them as sacred.
